How we put a Disney music video together in under a week featuring We The Kings.
At 7 Wonders, we’re no strangers to tight deadlines, but our recent project with Disney and We The Kings pushed our creativity and problem-solving skills to new heights. We were tasked with producing a music video for "Go the Distance" from Hercules as part of Disney’s Mickey & Friends: A Whole New Sound album—an exciting project that gave us just six days to bring the vision to life.
Choosing the Perfect Location
One of the key decisions for this project was selecting the right setting. We secured the location at Underground Arts in Philadelphia, an iconic venue that captured the vibe and energy we needed for the shoot. The underground, industrial aesthetic provided the perfect backdrop for We The Kings to deliver a performance that would resonate with Disney fans and pop-punk lovers alike.
The Unexpected Challenge: Sourcing Band Equipment
As with any ambitious project, challenges arise, and this one was no exception. Since We The Kings was performing at The Mann Music Center around the same time, all of their band equipment was held there for the show, making it inaccessible for our shoot. But that didn’t stop us. With time ticking, we quickly sourced and rented identical instruments and equipment to match what the band typically uses on stage. It was a logistical puzzle, but we managed to pull it off seamlessly.
Bringing the Vision to Life
Despite the tight timelines and logistical hurdles, our team thrived under the pressure. Every detail—from securing the venue to matching the band’s equipment—came together to create a music video that captured the spirit of "Go the Distance" and Disney’s legendary storytelling.
